The Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 Pro leaks keep coming, and in a very unorthodox fashion. The newest drip, courtesy of Android Authority, comes from a leaked animation in Samsung’s One UI 8.5 update that seems to confirm a few things about the most likely upcoming pair of wireless earbuds.
If you’ve used Samsung’s last pair of Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, the first thing you’ll likely notice is that there’s a bit of a redesign. Instead of the angular blade design, the animation shows that the stem on the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro is actually flat. How you feel about that potential tweak is your own prerogative, but I wouldn’t mind one bit if Samsung switched to a flatter stem. Like I said when I reviewed the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 FE wireless earbuds, squeezing on an angled piece of plastic just feels awkward to me—the flatter, the better, especially if there are still touch/squeeze controls.
I guess that means Samsung is also doing away with the LED light strip, which takes a little bit of flair out of the wireless earbuds’ look in my opinion.
Bye lights and hello comfort

Naturally, with a different stem design, the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro will need a different charging case that fits the new, flatter stems, and Android Authority obtained leaked animations of that, too. Instead of dropping into the case like the previous generation of wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro appear to lie flat inside. You’ll see no complaints from me here; personally, I find both charging case form factors work fine, though laying the buds flat might be a little easier if you’re trying to slot them in on the fly, since you can hold the case from underneath and just drop them in.
Leaks from Samsung’s upcoming UI update don’t just reveal potential hints about design; they also allude to some new features. As noted by Android Authority, strings of code point towards the inclusion of head gestures that allow anyone wearing the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro to do a few things hands-free. Among the abilities could be answering or rejecting calls, hearing notifications read out loud, and dismissing timers and alarms. That’s a lot of head controls to nail down! My advice, if these features come to pass, is to make sure you’re properly stretched before you go around computing with your neck IRL.
One thing that we haven’t seen evidence of yet, however, is any health features, which isn’t surprising given how new that idea is to wireless earbuds. As I wrote previously, Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 are ahead of the curve here, and their lead might give Apple a decisive advantage over competitors, especially if things like heart rate tracking and calorie counting actually catch on.
For now, though, we have plenty of solid leads to speculate on, and if all of these come to pass, the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro are shaping up to be a notable shift in Samsung’s wireless earbuds design.
