Some of our favorite Blu-rays are cheaper than ever during Black Friday

Sometimes, there’s a little too much emphasis placed on buying big-ticket items during Black Friday. I mean, there’s nothing wrong with big gifts. It’s just that people might forget about the power of a compact stocking stuffer, like a movie. Ah, movies. You know you’re getting one, even when it’s wrapped, simply based on its shape and the sound it makes when you shake it. They’re fun to get, and they’re fun to give.

To that point, we’ve rounded up a mix of recent and classic films and TV shows on Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray that Verge staffers have enjoyed. As always, there are too many options to fit on a single page (and our collective tastes may not align with yours or your recipient’s). If you aren’t jiving with the picks below, feel free to bounce to Amazon — more specifically, the landing page for its ongoing “buy two, get one free†sale. Barnes & Noble is also hosting a great Criterion Collection sale through December 7th, while Target is running its own “buy two, get one free†sale. Gruv, meanwhile, is currently offering unbeatable prices on some new and classic releases.

Note: some 4K Blu-rays also include standard Blu-rays, a digital code to watch the film wherever, or both (or neither). I’ve noted that in the product cards below.
