As A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms closes in on its season finale, HBO is seizing the moment to remind Game of Thrones fans there’s another show currently happening in the realm. We’ve got the first teaser for House of the Dragon‘s third season, and it’s almost a shock to remember how many characters, settings, and in-progress extreme dramas there are compared to A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ scaled-down adventures.
Still, season two sure did end with a lot up in the air—figuratively as well as literally, as House Targaryen’s high-flying family prepares for the Dance of the Dragons, the civil war detailed in George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, to begin in earnest.
HBO also released new key art for season three, with a tagline promising “From Fire Comes Darkness.â€

Queen Rhaenyra looks ready for battle, though we were never in doubt about her determination.
The returning House of the Dragon cast includes Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, Matthew Needham, Tom Bennett, Kieran Bew, Kurt Egyiawan, Freddie Fox, Clinton Liberty, Gayle Rankin, and Abubakar Salim.
That’s already 10 million more characters than A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, plus dragons! But that’s not all: new faces will include Tommy Flanagan as Ser Roderick Dustin, Dan Fogler as Ser Torrhen Manderly, and James Norton as Ormund Hightower.
House of the Dragon season three arrives in June on HBO and HBO Max. Are you ready to return to Westeros… again?
