Trump’s NASA Chief Hits Back at Kim Kardashian Over Fake Moon Landing Conspiracy

A showdown between Kim Kardashian and a top Trump administration official was not on my bingo card for 2025, and yet! Kardashian and U.S. Transportation Secretary and acting NASA chief Sean Duffy butted heads in a bizarre exchange over comments made by the reality star regarding the 1969 Moon landing, which she appears to think was fake.

Duffy took to social media platform X to debunk Kardashian, writing, “Yes, we’ve been to the Moon before… 6 times!” Duffy also wrote that NASA is going back to the Moon under the leadership of U.S. President Donald Trump.

“We won the last space race and we will win this one too,” he wrote.

Keeping up with the conspiracies

On the latest episode of long-running show The Kardashians, Kim tries to convince her All’s Fair‘s co-star Sarah Paulson that the Apollo Moon landing didn’t happen. “I’m sending you a million interviews with Buzz Aldrin and the other one,” Kardashian tells a perplexed-looking Paulson.

Kardashian cites an interview with astronaut Buzz Aldrin in which he responds to a question about the scariest moment of the Apollo mission. “There was no scary moment ’cause it didn’t happen. It could have been scary, but it wasn’t, ’cause it didn’t happen,” she quotes Aldrin as saying.

The influential media personality later told a producer that she believes the Moon landing was fake, referring to the American flag seen blowing on the lunar surface. Kardashian is not alone in her view. About 10% of the U.S. population believe the 1969 Moon landing was fake, with many questioning how the flag appears to be blowing in the photos when there is no wind on the Moon.

The real story is that the U.S. flag was propped up by a horizontal rod at the top, which the astronauts failed to pull all the way through, leading to the wrinkled look that makes it seem as though it’s blowing in the wind. Kardashian, however, doubled down on her beliefs. “I centre conspiracies all the time,” she said on the show.

That explains why Kardashian responded to Duffy’s post on X by asking, “Wait…. what’s the tea on 3I Atlas?!?!!!!!!!?????” The comet is the third interstellar object to pass through our solar system, prompting some conspiracy theorists to claim that it may be an alien spacecraft. It’s not.
