Asus’ Latest Gaming Laptop Is Twice the Machine With Twice the Screen

Asus decided it’s not giving up on a mobile gaming machine with more than one screen. At CES 2026, the company announced a new version of the ROG Zephyrus Duo that doubles the amount of 16-inch screen real estate you get on a typical laptop by—well—adding an extra OLED screen on an extra-large hinge.

There are actually two separate notes of inspiration to ROG’s latest off-the-wall design. The first ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 from 2022 included an awkward 14.1-inch secondary panel that rose at an angle from the main display. This form factor scrunched the size of the keyboard and mousepad. Instead, the new Duo takes inspiration from the Asus Zenbook Duo with that laptop’s hinged dual 14-inch screens and a keyboard that magnetically attaches to the bottom portion. The Zephyrus Duo includes the same slash lighting feature as the Zephyrus G14 and G16 laptops. However, the dual 16-inch screens offer some interesting new use cases for gaming or working on the go.

Like the Zenbook Duo, users can position the laptop with the screens vertically or else use the built-in kickstand to show the two displays on top of each other. That could be especially handy for mobile workers who can’t get anything done without an additional display. Windows 11 doesn’t allow for more than one full-screen game to run at once, which is a particular detriment to this device. However, Asus showed off their laptop running with the game mirrored on two screens at once with the laptop folded like a tent. If you’re playing a co-op game, that may mean the two players don’t have to hunch around a single small laptop display.

The new Zephyrus Duo arrives at the same time as a revised Zenbook Duo. The latter features a more seamless hinge that limits the amount of screen bezel. The Zephyrus is a larger, more capable device, mandating a larger and more pronounced mechanism. The Zephyrus’ two 3K, 120Hz OLED displays will be enough for most gaming needs, but as for performance, it will be an interesting mix. The dual-screened laptop features a “next-gen Intel Core Ultra†processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU. Before you get excited, this is still a thin device. That limits the TGP, or total graphics power, to a bare 135W.

Whether this new Zephyrus model makes the cut will depend more on how it can perform with two screens running compared to only one. Battery life on all gaming laptops is already an issue, and it will be worse when trying to display two screens at once. Otherwise, Kojima fans may be more interested in a new version of the ROG Flow Z13, one that’s inspired by Death Stranding 2: On a Beach. The limited edition gaming tablet/laptop hybrid still uses the same AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU that’s proved so good for gaming, but it also sports a new expanded keyboard cover and a rear vent grill that will look striking even if you don’t know what “Ludens†refers to.
