‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Is Officially Coming Back for Season 3

We’re still waiting for Born Again‘s sophomore season, but the revived Daredevil continuation has been subject to a bit of behind-the-scenes confusion recently over conflicting comments casting doubt on the show’s future. Doubt no more: the man without fear is ready for round three.

Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum confirmed to IGN in a new interview today that Born Again will be back for a third season. “â€In terms of Daredevil, yeah, we are greenlit for Season 3 and we start shooting next year,†Winderbaum simply told the outlet.

The comment comes a month and a half after series star Charlie Cox described the upcoming season 2 as Born Again‘s “final†season at GalaxyCon, leading to costar Vincent D’Onofrio downplaying the news as an error in speaking on Cox’s part. But the confirmation is unsurprising, as Winderbaum himself has already made it repeatedly clear that Marvel Television sees the revived Daredevil show as the crown of its revitalized approach to making TV shows: i.e., a series that actually exists for multiple seasons instead of being a feature chopped up into a miniseries that sets up a character to appear in the movies later down the line.

“That is the plan. Season 2 will come out next year, and then hopefully season 3 and season infinity after that,†Winderbaum told ScreenRant in February this year. “I think this world is extremely rich, and there are many stories to be told on the streets of New York.â€

We know at least one story that will be told when Daredevil: Born Again returns for season 2: the arrival of another former member of Netflix’s Defenders in Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, who will seemingly play a prominent role as Matt’s struggles against Wilson Fisk threaten to break out into a full-on vigilante war. Jess may be joined by her partner, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage, as Colter is set to appear alongside Ritter, Cox, D’Onofrio, and Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page) at a Daredevil panel at New York Comic Con next month that could potentially confirm his return.

Who knows—maybe they’ll save Iron Fist for season 3?
