There have been a lot of incredible Hollywood memorabilia auctions lately—and while it’ll be hard to top that $3 million-plus Darth Vader lightsaber, there’s no reason not to also admire these original Star Trek uniforms. If you have the scratch ($10,000-$15,000), you can bid on an original Captain Kirk or Mr. Spock outfit thanks to Heritage Auctions, and that’s just a tiny taste of what’s hitting the block very soon.
It all comes from the collection of the late Dr. Stewart Berkowitz, whose museum-quality stash is truly impressive. Though it’s heavy on The Honeymooners, there are also notable pieces from genre shows from the ’50s through the ’70s, including The Munsters, I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, Batman, Wonder Woman, and more.
From Star Trek, the uniforms for sale also include an original Lt. Uhura minidress ($10,000), worn by groundbreaking sci-fi icon Nichelle Nichols. You can also try to snag Kirk’s shiny gold “Mirror, Mirror†alt-universe ensemble ($15,000) while you’re at it.
From the world of superheroes, a starting bid of $100,000 has been affixed to Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman ensemble, which does indeed include the Lasso of Truth. There’s an original Adam West Batman suit, sold as a Dynamic Duo with an original Burt Ward Robin suit; together they start at $200,000. Yvonne Craig’s shiny Batgirl suit and cape ($25,000) are also available.

Other Batman items include Cesar Romero’s colorful Joker outfit, Frank Gorshin’s skintight Riddler costume, Julie Newmar and Lee Meriweather’s slinky Catwoman catsuits, and Burgess Meredith’s Penguin tux—not to mention original Batarangs and “Bat-Claws,†among other props, and several alternate disguises for the villains.
“My dad started this collection before the auction world for this kind of material existed,†says Berkowitz’s son, Jordan Meddy, in a Heritage Auctions press release. “He was an early adopter of eBay, and at first he collected what he came across, and was especially into The Honeymooners and Batman. His collection expanded, and then contracted as he became more serious about it, and decided to focus it on the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s. He was very detail-oriented, and he wanted it to be the most complete, authentic collection possible. He put everything he had into it.â€
The nostalgia factor is certainly sky-high; the auction also includes such prized pieces as Gilligan’s bucket hat and red shirt from Gilligan’s Island and the leather jacket worn by the Fonz on Happy Days.
The Dr. Stewart Berkowitz’s Television Treasures Collection auction takes place October 24; you can check out all the lots and find out how to bid at Heritage Auctions.
