Lego’s March Releases Need a Hero (of Time)

Even with the launch of its Pokémon line, February was a pretty quiet month for Lego. That’s going to change in March, with an array of heavy hitters from the brick builder… and one that might go down in infamy for the company, too.

Notable highlights this month include a highly anticipated return to Hyrule with a new set celebrating Ocarina of Time (so Zelda fans can remember their franchise also celebrated a major anniversary in February), as well as a new wave of Lego Batman that marks 20 years of Lego’s history with the Dark Knight. But then, yes, there’s the controversial elephant in the room: Lego’s future of play makes its launch with a whole line of Star Wars sets dedicated to the brickbuilder’s new “Smart Play†platform of reactive bricks, minifigures, and tiles to bring lights and sounds experiences to Lego play. Well, a weird-sounding experience, to say the least.

Here’s the rundown on everything to expect from Lego in March.

Lego Icons Project Hail Mary

A seemingly unlikely licensed get for Lego gives us a very cool space-themed set marking one of our most anticipated sci-fi movies of 2026—and nets Ryan Gosling his first-ever Lego minifigure even before the inevitable wave of Star Wars: Starfighter sets next year. ($100, available here)

Lego Batman Releases

The year 2026 marks 20 years for Lego’s Batman line, so it’s kicking off the celebrations with a special Bat-logo display piece that comes with not just a golden Batman minifigure but also a ton of hidden detailing using accessories for iconic Batman characters to nod to Gotham’s denizens. If that wasn’t enough, there’s also a trio of new Batmobiles from across Batman’s movie history, from Batman & Robin up to The Batman.

Lego Scaled-Up Blue Astronaut Minifigure

Lego’s line of adorable oversized classic minifigures continues with a trip to its classic space line and the most iconic astronaut color of all. No broken helmet strap on this big fig, though—but his head can open up to show a tiny little robot controlling the minifigure out of its noggin. ($60, available here)

Lego Disney Releases

There’s a plethora of Disney sets coming this month, from the latest in the flowerpot mini line to some Monsters Inc. BrickHeadz. But the star of the show is a new Winnie the Pooh display model, which comes with a pot of honey (well, “hunnyâ€) that can open up into a little humble abode for the included Pooh and Eeyore minifigures.

Lego Icons Lord of the Rings Sauron’s Helmet

Lego keeps experimenting with a few smaller Lord of the Rings sets in between its big, pricey releases, and this time around it’s taking a leaf out of the Marvel and Star Wars playbooks with a buildable replica of Sauron’s iconic helmet—which also includes a way to get the Sauron minifigure without throwing down a lot of cash for the Barad-dûr set. ($70, available here)

Lego Star Wars Smart Play Releases

Brace yourselves: this month’s Star Wars sets are all in on Lego’s big new technology push, Smart Play. While all of them include a selection of special smart minifigures and smart tiles, only three of the eight sets releasing in this wave actually come with the smart brick that reacts to them (Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter, the X-Wing, and the Throne Room Duel), unlocking a plethora of light- and sound-based interactivity.

Lego Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time – The Final Battle

The second-ever Legend of Zelda Lego set comes just in time to mark the franchise’s 40th anniversary in February, with a replica of the climactic boss fight against Ganondorf and his monstrous form as Ganon in the ruins of Hyrule Castle Town. It’s dangerous to go alone, of course, so the set also includes a brand-new Princess Zelda minifigure to battle alongside Link. ($130, available here)

Lego Ninjago Releases

The year 2026 is big for Lego and anniversary-based releases because, meanwhile, Ninjago is still celebrating its own 15th anniversary with a couple more releases after its big celebratory wave back in January.

Lego Art Claude Monet – Bridge Over a Pond of Water Lilies

Lego’s art line gets appropriately seasonal with its take on the 1899 Monet classic, rendering the Impressionist’s layered paintwork with oodles of different Lego textures. ($250, available from 3/4, or 3/1 for Lego Insiders)
