Archie Comics

Jeff Sneider’s InSneider Report has word that Paramount is purportedly preparing a film adaptation of the Archie Comics universe, with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and Mister Miracle writer Tom King tapped to pen the script, allegedly inspired by Archie: The Married Life, a comic that simultaneously follows two alternate futures where Archie marries either Betty or Veronica.

Meanwhile, Sneider further reports that Disney is potentially developing its own Archie adaptation, based on the Afterlife With Archie zombie horror series, for Disney+, with Riverdale creator (and Afterlife writer) Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa reportedly set to showrun.

Street Fighter

According to Nexus Point News, Eric Andre has joined the cast of the new Street Fighter movie in an undisclosed role “likely†to be ring announcer, Don Sauvage.

The Pirate

Deadline reports Jason Momoa and David Leitch are attached to produce The Pirate, a pitch package based on a spec script from writer Will Dunn described as “The Raid set on a pirate ship.†If deals close, “the project would be developed as a potential starring vehicle for Momoa†with Leitch attached to direct.

Artificial

Deadline also reports Will Angus, Thaddea Graham, Nicholas Hamilton, Angus Imrie, and Will Price have joined the cast of Artificial, Luca Guadagnino’s “comedic drama set in the world of artificial intelligence.â€

The Toxic Avenger

Elsewhere, The Toxic Avenger promotes Liquid Death in a new tie-in advertisement.

Peacemaker

In conversation with Interview Magazine, James Gunn stated the second season of Peacemaker is “much more about†Christopher Smith, the man, than his superhero alter ego.

I will say that Peacemaker Season 2 really is the Christopher Smith season. It’s about the character of Christopher Smith. It is much more about him than it is about a superhero named Peacemaker. That’s just the costume he sometimes wears. It’s about him discovering this other world, which is sort of a Xerox of his world with minor differences. And those minor differences seem to be that everything is better for Peacemaker. And his life over there, his doppelganger of Peacemaker, is everything that he kind of wishes his own life was. That’s the kind of high concept we start with.
