‘Primal’ Returns From the Dead in Sneak Peek at Season Three

The new X-Files may have found its lead investigator, an unlikely Avenger is set to play Mother Gothel in the live-action Tangled, and the Stranger Things finale is rumored to be the most expensive season of television ever produced. Tangled

According to World of Reel, Disney is moving forward with its planned live-action remake of Tangled, with Scarlett Johansson now in talks to play Mother Gothel.


The Revenge of La Llorona

THR reports Jay Hernandez, Monica Raymund, Edy Ganem, Martín Fajardo, Acston Luca Porto, and Avie Porto will join returning actor Raymond Cruz in a sequel to 2019’s The Curse of La Llorona. Directed by Santiago Menghini, the story will see “the return of the vengeful spirit La Llorona, forcing a fractured family to confront their past and join forces with their estranged grandfather to battle ancient evils and stop the Weeping Woman before she claims their children forever.â€


Crush

Deadline reports 20th Century Studios has acquired Crush, a spec script from John Fischer described as a “propulsive, ticking-clock survival thriller about a woman hiking alone in the Everglades who wakes to find herself trapped in the crushing coils of a massive python, fighting to stay alive as every breath brings her closer to death. Inspired by true events and told primarily in real time, the hot spec is said to be a real page-turner that has already begun attracting interest from major actresses for its juicy lead role.â€


Guillotine

Sean Young hosts a semi-educational horror/comedy anthology, where each segment involves the titular instrument of death, in the trailer for Guillotine.


The X-Files

According to a new rumor from Nexus Point News, Danielle Deadwyler “could play one of the lead investigators, whose character is partnered with a male investigator†in the upcoming X-Files reboot from Ryan Coogler.


Stranger Things

Elsewhere, a new report from Puck News suggests the final season of Stranger Things is budgeted at $60 million per episode, making it the most expensive season of television ever produced.


Beefy Frank

Bloody-Disgusting has a clip from Beefy Frank, a pilot for a new series from Superjail’s Mike Carlo and Christy Karakas that’s described as “The Sopranos meets Basket Caseâ€. The story concerns Frank Vitaliano, a “low-level mob associate who was accidentally mutated into a disembodied head with telekinetic powers during a job gone wrong. Fresh out of prison, Frank is crashing with his sister, trying to get his life together — all while becoming a reluctant role model to his dorky nephew, dodging his hardass parole officer, juggling his smokeshow monster girlfriend, and keeping a local wiseguy off his back.â€


A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

HBO has released a trailer for its Game of Thrones tie-in series starring Dunk and Egg, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.


Primal

Finally, Spear’s remains are literally zombified in the trailer for the third season of Primal.
