The original creator of Jessica Rabbit wants to make a new movie with her. Betty Boop is the latest victim of the classic cartoon-turned-horror movie trend. Plus, somehow the View-Master movie has found its writer. Spoilers get!

Sabrina Carpenter’s Alice in Wonderland

THR reports Sabrina Carpenter will star in a new musical version of Alice in Wonderland for Universal Pictures. Written and directed by Lorene Scafaria (Hustlers), the film is described as a “passion project†for Carpenter, who pitched the idea to Universal last year with a “detailed lookbook†of her own design. Wicked’s Marc Platt is attached to produce Carpenter’s vision, alongside Leslie Morgenstein and Elysa Koplovitz Dutton of Alloy Entertainment, “the banner behind shows such as Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars.â€


The Freeze

Deadline reports Grace Caroline Currey (Fall, Annabelle: Creation, Shazam!) will star alongside Mel Gibson, Natasha Henstridge, and James C. Clayton in The Freeze, a horror film about a haunted refrigerator. Written and directed by Trevor Mirosh, the story concerns a woman named Morgan (Currey) who brings home “a vintage 1940s refrigerator†only to “discover something hidden within that’s slowly freezing [her “fractured†family] inside their own home.†The vintage fridge may also “hold the chilling truth behind her son’s disappearance.â€


Jessica Rabbit: XERIOUS Business

In a recent interview with the Jessica Rabbit fansite, ImNotBad, Who Censored Roger Rabbit? author Gary K. Wolf revealed he’s regained the rights to his “all [his] books†and plans to make a Jessica Rabbit solo film.

I now have back the rights to all my characters, all my books. I can, basically, do my own Roger Rabbit projects. The one that is most prominent…is a live-action Jessica Rabbit movie based on the book Jessica Rabbit: XERIOUS Business. That was the first project that we took a look at and the first we started developing. It’s probably the one that’s furthest along right now.


Boop

Speaking of Jessica Rabbit, Deadline now reports a horror film based on Betty Boop is currently in development starring Katisha Shaw, Spencer Breslin, Eva Hamilton, Colton Tran, and Devanny Pinn as Boop. The story concerns “a team of horror podcast investigators†as they “break into an abandoned theater to discover the hauntings of the starlet once known as Boop. A simple investigation turns into a horrific bloodbathas they fight to escape the murderous Boop, as she is out for revenge.â€


View-Master

Deadline also reports Phil Johnston (Wreck-It Ralph, Zootopia) has been hired to write the “live-action, four-quadrant†View-Master movie for Mattel Studios.


Dust Bunny

According to Bloody-Disgusting, Dust Bunny has been pushed back one week and will now open in theaters this December 12.


VisionQuest

Variety reports Diane Morgan and Lauren Morais have joined the cast of VisionQuest. Morgan is said to play “an associate of Stashwick’s character, Paladin,†while Morais is playing Lisa Molinari, better known as the minor villain Coat of Arms in the comics, described here as “a character closely connected to Mollica’s Thomas Shepherd.â€


Ghosts
