Sarah Michelle Gellar Teases Even More About the ‘Buffy’ Reboot

David Howard Thornton teases what’s coming in Terrifier 4. Karyn Kusama has big hopes for the potential Jennifer’s Body sequel. Plus, new Fallout posters tease the factions of New Vegas. Spoilers, assemble!

Buzzkill

Deadline reports Billy Magnussen and Lulu Wilson will star in Joe Lynch’s new horror movie, Buzzkill. Described as a cross between “A Quiet Place and Another Round,†the story is set “in a small Texas town terrorized by a creature that can only be seen by people who are drunk.†Magnussen will star as the “recently widowed and recovering alcoholic Sheriff Red, who launches an investigation as locals begin turning up murdered and dismembered one by one, discovering that the monster feeds on the blood alcohol content of its victims. With the annual brewery festival fast approaching, the whole town is about to get wasted. Red must face his demons and pick up the bottle one last time to take down the monster and save his town for good. Wilson co-stars as Lydia, Red’s vengeful little sister.â€

Terrifier 4

Speaking with Slasher Radio, David Howard Thornton revealed he’s largely in the dark about Terrifier 4, though director Damien Thorne promises it will be “bat-shit insane.â€

I’m very excited, but I don’t know a whole lot, because this time around Damien has been keeping everything very close to his vest about what’s happening in the script. Lauren [Lavera], Samantha [Scaffidi], and I, in the past when he’s been writing the other scripts, he’s been consulting us the whole entire time, running ideas by us. This time, he’s been pretty much silent. He just goes, ‘Oh yeah, you’re gonna love the origin story, Dave. You’re gonna love how we do it.’ And he said also, ‘The finale is bat-shit insane. You’re gonna have a lot of fun with that.’ Other than that, I don’t know, but that makes me excited.

Jennifer’s Body 2

By the same token, Jennifer’s Body director Karyn Kusama told Deadline she knows “some†things about the “fun and crazy†sequel.

I know [Diablo Cody’s] working on it right now, and I’m very excited to hear what comes of it. I know some of the bones of it, so I’m not going to give anything away, but it sounds fun and crazy like the first film. And I have no doubt that Diablo will do something absolutely incredible with it.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale

Speaking to Variety, Sarah Michelle Gellar said that the new series will be approachable to audiences who have not seen Buffy.

No. Absolutely not. But this is a show that will cater definitely to the people. There will always be Easter eggs, because there was Easter eggs to the original. There will be Easter eggs in this one. But we also want to introduce it to a whole new, you know, people that maybe haven’t seen the show. Who are you? And why haven’t you watched it? But OK.

She further added what series contributor Chloe Zhao brought to the table to get her to return to the series.

 Chloe had this idea in a world and the passion with which she spoke both about her idea and the show made me realize that now more than ever we need those heroes to believe in. It’s tough times for everybody right now, and I think people feel more isolated and more alone and we live in an incredibly digital society. But ultimately the more and more technologically connected we get, the more disconnected we’re becoming and so found family and those true moments become more and more important.â€

Finally, Amazon has revealed new posters for the second season, including a look at Caesar’s Legion, one of the factions from Fallout: New Vegas, among others.
