Io9 2025 Spoiler

What Happens at Night

Deadline reports Patricia Clarkson will star alongside Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio in What Happens at Night, Martin Scorsese’s adaptation of Peter Cameron’s 2020 horror mystery novel. Drawing comparisons to Twin Peaks and The Shining (per Bloody-Disgusting), the “dream-like story†follows “a married American couple who travel to a small, snowy European town to adopt a baby. They check into a cavernous, largely deserted hotel where they encounter an enigmatic cast of characters including a flamboyant chanteuse, a depraved businessman, and a charismatic faith healer. Nothing is quite as it seems in this strange, frozen world. As the couple struggle to claim their baby, the less they seem to know about themselves and the life they’ve built together.â€

Unknown Company

Deadline also reports Ross Marquand has joined the cast of Unknown Company, a supernatural horror-thriller set during WWII. Directed by Vincent Talenti (Transformers: War for Cybertron) and written by Gavin Hignight (Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance), the story concerns “a small unit of American soldiers sent behind enemy lines to locate the wreckage of an unidentified object. The mission quickly becomes a psychological and moral reckoning, forcing the men to confront fear, loyalty, and the consequences of the unknown.†Hugh Scott, Zak Steiner, Mace Coronel, Kevin Brooks, Sarah Hay, and Nolan North co-star.

Taika Waititi’s Star Wars

Taika Waititi now promises a “fun†and “high stakes†Star Wars film as opposed to one that will “piss people off†in his latest interview with Variety.

I’m just trying to go back and harness a little bit more of the fun from the original films, which is what I remember [from] them. The stakes are very high, and there’s serious things going on, but there’s also a lot of fun to be had in those films. That’s what I was trying to bring back. I was trying to work in a world that was a little bit separate to that because they’ve got so many things going on within that space. For me to do something there, it would need to be a little different and a little bit more its own thing.

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 4

During his recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Chris Pratt revealed he has “a really strong vision†of Star-Lord’s future in the MCU.

The thing is, you know, everything is all liquid, right? And they kind of take things a step at a time at Marvel. I’m happy to do anything they want me to do […] Also, I personally have a really strong vision of what I would want him to do, and I think it’s f*cking great.

I’m down to contribute any way I can to them setting up the next 10 years of storytelling, you know, and I have a pretty strong idea of how I think I could contribute to that.

The thing is, like, when we did Avengers with the Russos, it was an amazing experience, but also a slightly different experience than doing it with James [Gunn]. In a dream world it would be somehow James, but I don’t think that’s likely to happen. So, I’d have to think about, like, who would be the right director. There are amazing directors out there. [I’m] sure we’ll find the right guy…or girl.

Power Rangers

Entertainment insider Jinsaku claims to have read “bits and pieces†of the script for the pilot episode of the Power Rangers reboot, stating it concerns “a small town rocked by a series of bizarre time anomalies, people vanishing, memories changing, and fragments of futuristic tech appearing.†Naturally, “a group of misfits and outsiders are drawn to the center of it all†and so “are chosen to become the first Power Rangers team in decades.
