The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are no stranger to some wild crossovers in their time—especially when it comes to their toys. But now, as Playmates prepares to bid farewell to the heroes in a half-shell they built a plastic-based empire on, they’re going to start sending them out in style with the help of another ’80s action figure classic.
io9 has got your exclusive first look at Playmate’s new line of TMNT x GI Joe crossover toys, mashing together two of the most iconic toy brands of the 1980s into a line of real reptilian heroes (and of course, a few enemies for them to fight). Like with prior TMNT collabs, the figures will reimagine the turtles, their allies, and their biggest foes as characters from across G.I. Joe history, and will feature an array of 4.5-5.25″ action figures as well as a few vehicles to go with them.

The main action figure line will see Leo, Donnie, Mikey, and Raph transformed into Snake Eyes, Dial-Tone, Shipwreck, and Roadblock, and joined by their best friend April O’Neill as Joe legend Scarlett.

It wouldn’t be either TMNT or GI Joe without some villains to fight, so the heroes will also be joined by a further five sinister mashups: Shredder taking on the mantle of Cobra Commander, Krang as Destro, Slash as Storm Shadow, and Bebop and Rocksteady as Ripper and Buzzer, respectively. They’ll of course all come with accessories inspired by both the Ninja Turtles themselves and their GI Joe counterparts (check April’s crossbow video camera!), and be presented in retro-themed packaging inspired by the aesthetics of both classic TMNT and GI Joe toylines of yesteryear.
The crossover line will also be supported by two new vehicle sets, although they’re definitely leaning into being more inspired by the Joes’ arsenal rather than the Turtle van: the first is the Turtle-Fly copter, which will feature spinning katana helicopter blades, firing missiles, a rappel line, and more. The second, you can check out below—the AWE Shell-Striker, an all-terrain scout vehicle that likewise features functioning missile launchers as well as space for you to hang the whole Ninja Turtle team on it, even the included exclusive version of the April/Scarlett figure.

The TMNT x GI Joe figures and vehicles will be available this summer, as Playmates prepares to hand over the TMNT toy license to Mattel after almost 40 years in 2027. At least it’ll be going out with a bang!
