Jon M. Chu teases a wildcard star for Wicked: For Good‘s Cowardly Lion. Rachel Tammi talks upping the animatronic game for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. Plus, what’s coming on The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. Spoilers away!
Alien
Speaking with the Spanish outlet Omelette, Demián Rugna denied he’s directing the sequel to Alien: Romulus.
I heard the rumor. It’s truly flattering, and I love the idea, but there’s nothing to it. Just a comment from Fede Ãlvarez. It’s fantastic that they’re linking me to that, but I wish it were true and I didn’t have to say there’s nothing to it.
Wicked: For Good
During a new interview with Deadline, Jon M. Chu revealed he secured a major actor to voice the Cowardly Lion in Wicked: For Good.
I was like, ‘It’s not a ton of lines, but maybe you have a little time. I know you’re busy. I’ll come to you.’ He was like, ‘Why the fuck not, let’s go!’ And then we went ahead and recorded the lines. Man, wait until the red carpet when the actor who gave us the Cowardly Lion’s voice steps foot on it. It’ll be wild.
Noseeums
Deadline also reports Quiver Distribution has acquired Noseeums, the feature debut from Raven DeShay Carter, described as a “socially charged horror feature that blends supernatural tension with a deep-rooted Southern Gothic atmosphere.†The story follows Ember, “a Black college student invited to a rural estate for a weekend with her white classmates, where she encounters spectral retribution tied to the historic loss of Black land ownership in the American South.â€
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2
In conversation with Collider, director Rachel Tammi stated Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 contains much more impressive animatronics than the first.
I would say that the amount of animatronics that we added to the mix on the second film felt like, okay, we’re stretching ourselves much further creatively, technically, and so much action with them, as well. That was really a very cool expansion of the world.
I do think the big tease is the animatronics — all the ones they’re expecting, maybe some more — and just chock-full of Easter eggs again. We’ve really done our best to include as many details and things as possible that fans are going to pick out from the game, that they’re going to appreciate from the lore. It’s just really packed. Now, you might not get all those references if you’re not a diehard fan, but I think the story still is really a fun ride, and I think you can follow it and enjoy it, even if you don’t understand all the layers.
Mimics
A “down-on-his-luck impressionist makes a pact with Fergus—a wicked, strings-attached puppet—that holds the promise to propel Sam to stardom†in the trailer for Mimics.
Silent Night, Deadly Night
We also have the full trailer for the new Silent Night, Deadly Night remake.
The Boys Presents: Diabolical
During a recent interview with The Wrap, Eric Kripke revealed Amazon has quietly canceled Diabolical.
I don’t think there’s going to be a Season 2 of Diabolical. It’s not for lack of us pushing. I think ultimately the viewer numbers weren’t there to justify a second season, sadly. Although, we love it and Simon [Racioppa], the showrunner, would be game to do it, but we haven’t gotten a go ahead on that.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon
Finally, Spoiler TV has images from “Solaz Del Mar,†this week’s episode of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. More at the link.
