Sunday night marked the Golden Globes, and for genre fans, the big winners were KPop Demon Hunters and Sinners.
The Netflix film didn’t just win “Best Original Song†with its big single “Golden,†it also took home “Best Animated Feature.†It’s yet another feather in the animated hit’s cap, following the film’s ongoing viewership and charts success since its release last summer, and coming days after a new version of “Golden†hit the digital airwaves. While taking the “Best Song†award, Rumi’s singer EJAE accepted it and got to deliver the acceptance speech.
As for Sinners, the historical horror flick took “Cinematic/Box Office Achievementâ€â€”beating fellow genre nominees KPop, Avatar: Fire and Ash, Weapons, Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, Wicked: For Good, and Zootopia 2—and Ludwig Göransson for “Best Original Score.†It was also a Golden Globe nominee in the categories of “Best Director,†“Best Screenplay,†“Best Original Song,†“Best Motion Picture (Drama),†and Michael B. Jordan for “Best Actor (Drama).â€
On the TV end of things, Rhea Seehorn won “Best Female Actor†for her turn as Carol Sturka in AppleTV’s Pluribus. And while Andor didn’t win anything, the show’s actor Stellan Skarsgård got a “Best Supporting Actor (Drama)†win for his role in the film Sentimental Value.
