It’s 2:17 a.m.—have you checked the children? Zach Cregger‘s Weapons brought a whole new meaning to that age-old horror query, and now the chiller of the summer is coming to HBO Max and HBO linear.
You can start streaming Weapons October 24 on HBO Max and October 26 on HBO itself, meaning you’ll have plenty of time to make last-minute adjustments to your Aunt Gladys Halloween costume after you watch it. Or, you can just set the mood for prime spooky season with Cregger’s shocking tale.
Like his breakout 2022 hit Barbarian, Weapons starts off feeling like a movie you think you recognize, then veers into a wild patchwork of shifting perspectives, building a story that climaxes in a wild reveal—and the best chase scene in recent memory.
The cast includes Julia Garner as a teacher whose entire class suddenly goes missing, Benedict Wong as a concerned school principal, Josh Brolin as a parent who takes his concern maybe a tad too far, Alden Ehrenreich as an easily tempted cop, Cary Christopher as a kid who knows too much, Austin Abrams as a junkie (and noted Willow fan), and Amy Madigan as the one and only Aunt Gladys.
Fire up Weapons starting October 24 on HBO Max. Don’t forget to get everyone a bowl of water before you begin!
