Xreal’s Cheapest AR Glasses Just Got Better (and Cheaper)

Xreal is back at CES 2026 with some improvements to its most affordable AR glasses. The Xreal 1S (a sequel to the Xreal One) are now $50 cheaper at $449 and have improved specs to boot. Cheaper and better, you say? Alright, I’m listening.

The upgrades aren’t mind-blowing, but they should be welcome for anyone thinking about getting into the AR glasses game with an Xreal product. One of the biggest improvements is in the screen, with Xreal bumping up the display from 1080p to 1200p and adding a slightly bigger field of view (from 50 degrees to 52 degrees). Brightness also gets a bump, going from 600 nits to 700 nits.

As is the case with the Xreal One, the Xreal 1S (yes, they’re using numerals this time around) can show a virtual screen that equates to about 500 inches and has a refresh rate of 120Hz. What’s really fun about the smart glasses is the ability to convert video feeds to 3D, which is a fun little trick when you’re using the AR glasses for watching movies or playing games.

Speaking of playing games with the Xreal 1S, the company is also launching the Xreal Neo, which is a DisplayPort hub for the glasses that also acts as an external charger. The Xreal Neo has a 10,000mAh battery and makes connecting to the Switch or Switch 2 easier since it rids you of the need to connect the smart glasses through the Nintendo dock. You’ll have to buy the Xreal Neo separately, though, which will cost you an additional $99.

While tethered AR glasses may not be the number one category on your list, Xreal makes a pretty compelling case with its display glasses. Personally, I feel like they take one of the best parts of mixed reality headsets (the ability to use them as a big-ass virtual screen) and put them in a form factor that you may actually want to bring with you on the go. Yes, they still have the problem of when exactly you’re supposed to use them (on a plane, I guess?), but they still have a lot of perks, too, including the ability to make things 3D.
